Life continues in the Great Backlands, pushed forth by hunger and thirst. Shadows of human-like figures dart across the sand, and hooved abominations of meat and muscle lumber in clump-like herds, their organs pulsing and beating as they lived. The humans observed them, hunched behind a shallow outcropping of rock, a deep hunger seating itself in their being, their skin tingling in anticipation. Their mouths felt weak, and their bones felt hollow, yet in their companionship of one another they felt in their thoughts a hope for food and drink, a hope for survival, a hope for life.

Harvest is a project I started in the summer of 2022, a Biopunk RPG heavily inspired by indie games such as Wrought Flesh and Death Trash where survival is paramount.

In the ruined world of the Great Backlands, water is scarce, found only in wandering oases protected by the ghoulish Water Reavers. Food is carved from dangerous monsters and cooked in bubbling oil, organs implanted into bodies to give strength and power.

This is the first draft of Harvest, and in the future I plan on expanding upon it. This rulebook contains everything you need to play the game, with rules for character creation, travel and combat, a list of equipable organs and weapons, as well as a small collection of monsters to fight.

The game is in very early development, and since the writing of this rulebook I have written additional lore, organs, weapons and character roles, which I plan on compiling alongside other re-writes in an updated version.
